Investigations
The Sioux County Sheriff's Office utilizes one full-time deputy (investigator) dedicated to criminal investigation. There are also five (5) deputies who assist with special investigations. Patrol deputies usually do the initial investigation; after that the case goes to the main investigator to be assigned, or investigated by him.

All deputies at the Sheriff's Office are well trained in many specialized investigative areas, including crime scene processing, interview techniques, gathering and processing evidence, and report writing.

In 2005 the Sheriff's Office purchased a used ambulance from the City of Rock Valley, IA. and converted it into a special tactics unit. It's used primarily for the Special Response Team (SRT); it's also equipped to be used as a crime scene response unit - useful for major crime scenes, missing person searches, and other disasters.

The Sheriff's Office investigates on the average, 1600 incidents a year.

The office of investigation can be reached by calling the Sheriff's Office at 712-737-2280.
